"And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp." - Ex. 33:7

"but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle." - Ex. 33:11

In the first of these two verses we see that because of the continuing stubborness of the people of Israel to bend to the will of Yahweh that Moses moved the tabernacle from the midst of the nation to a place "without the camp, afar off from the camp". Yahweh was not able to dwell in the midst of the people because of their wickedness and His holiness, and so there had to be an enforced distance between them. Then those who "sought Yahweh went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation". Those who would accept Yahweh's commandments and do them had to then separate themselves from the rest of the people in order to worship and sacrifice to their God. In other words, even though all the people were supposed to be holy, in practice they were not that different from the nations around them and so those who would be holy had to separate themselves.

Deuteronomy 7:6 states of the nation of Israel "For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth." The purpose behind the selection of Israel as the special people of Yahweh is given in Deuteronomy 26:19 "And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken".

It is clear that those who would worship Yahweh acceptably today must also be holy, separating The true worshippers of Yahweh had to go forth without the camp of "the ecclesia in the wilderness" (Acts 7:38) showing that even the majority of the "body of Moses" were not holy, and so it is also today with the majority of Christadelphian Fellowships.themselves from those around them that they may be a holy people.

You're probably wondering "Why mention verse 11 of this chapter?" Well, we all know that Joshua was a type of the Messiah and that in Hebrew their names are the same. Therefore, in type, Joshua separated himself completely from the wickedness of the people and "departed not out of the tabernacle", indicating that Jesus himself would be completely and wholly dedicated to the work of his Heavenly Father, and providing us with the perfect example of holiness, "Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach". The true worshippers of Yahweh had to go forth without the camp of "the ecclesia in the wilderness" (Acts 7:38Acts 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:) showing that even the majority of the "body of Moses" were not holy, and so it is also today with the majority of Christadelphian Fellowships.

Let us, therefore, follow the example set by our Lord and Master that in the day of judgement we shall be separated from the goats and counted among the sheep of his pasture.
